Michael completed his Bachelor of Public Administration at York University, and his Juris Doctor at the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Law. During his time in law school, Michael was a member of the Varsity golf team. As part of this team for 3 years, he competed in national and international tournaments. Michael applies this same drive and determination to his legal practice, which is focused on civil litigation and family law.
Michael recognizes that each claim and client is unique – some are better suited for alternative dispute resolution, while other claims need to be aggressively pursued in court. In civil litigation, Michael has experience handling builders’ lien matters, debt collection, contractual disputes, employment matters, and civil fraud, representing both plaintiffs and defendants. In family law, Michael’s practice focuses on resolving divorce matters amicably. He promotes keeping his family law clients out of the courtroom, but adapts to the needs of each client. Michael has appeared at the Provincial Court of Alberta and the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench.
Michael also drafts and negotiates leases, and works with his colleagues at Shourie Bhatia LLP on a variety of litigation, family, corporate and business transactions, and residential real estate transactions.
In his free time, Michael enjoys spending time with his family, and playing golf, soccer, and basketball. Michael is also an avid Edmonton Oilers and Toronto Raptors fan.
