Sumit Kanwar, Student-at-Law
Sumit is an articling student at SB LLP. He has a diverse educational background, having completed medical school at Aureus University and a Post-doctoral research fellowship at Cleveland Clinic. In 2020, Sumit decided to switch to the field of law and enrolled at Bond University in Australia.
During his time in Australia, Sumit achieved notable accomplishments such as being a finalist for an NHL arbitration moot and being elected as the Outbound Director for the Canadian Law Society Association at Bond. Additionally, Sumit won the Alan Cup Ball Hockey tournament, and the Sport-A-Palooza tournament hosted by the CLSA. Lastly, Sumit received the First in Class award for both Taxation Law and Family Law and graduated with a Class 1 Distinction.
Outside of his academic pursuits, Sumit is actively involved in his community. He served on the Medical Board for Make-A-Wish Foundation for five years. In his leisure time, he enjoys playing hockey and golf, as well as traveling. Sumit has a passion for exploring new foods and seeking out new experiences. He also likes to relax by listening to music and free-hand sketching.
